caprese salad recipe

Here is one of the simplest and most delicious salads out there. How could it not be, when it has cheese in it. I don’t know if it is an authentic recipe, but this is my version of caprese salad and all I can tell you it is divine. Rich in flavor, refreshing and fulfilling. Oh, and it takes only ten minutes to make.  Please be aware this recipe is made for one very hungry person.  This amount of mozzarella would be fine for two people, just add one more tomato. Without further a due, here is the recipe:


2 Tomatoes


125g (4.04oz) Mozzarella cheese (soft kind)


Several basil leaves


Olive oil

1.       Slice tomatoes into slices approximately 0.5 cm (0.2 in) thickness and place them on a plate in to a circle.
2.       Slice mozzarella into same size as tomato. And place mozzarella slices on top of tomatoes.
3.       Finely chopped few (I used four)  and „sprinkle“ it on a salad. If you don’t have access to fresh basil, feel free to use dry basil. Remember, dry basil is far more intense in taste then fresh one so you’ll need small amount (1/3 of a teaspoon max).
4.       Drizzle olive oil on top. Use whichever amount you like.
5.       Put several basil leaves as garnish in the middle. Enjoy your meal!
