Happy New Year, my friends! Have lovely and prosperous 2019. May it be much better than the year behind us, and may it bring you joy, happiness, peace and love. I’ve already sorted my thoughts on challenging 2018 (2018 Recap), I hope you’ve reflected too, and walked into a new year with your head up high and positivity all around you. If not, there’s still time. That’s what new beginnings are for.
I have some resolutions (wishes) for 2019 I’d like to share. First of I’d like to say I’m keeping all of my „decisions“ from previous year and implementing few new ones. These aren’t rules, or anything like that. They’re more like my wishlist of things I’d like to do/be.
1. BE MORE PATIENT
Lately I’m feeling like I’m constantly in some sort of standby mode and it started to make me feel mad. However, I am aware that nothing happens overnight and that being patient is a virtue not many people have. And I’d like to be more patient and calm.
2. LEARN WHEN TO SHUT UP
Continuing to my first New Year’s resolution, knowing when not to speak is also a rare virtue to see nowadays. We live in society where „we can be anything we want to“ and „ we can say anything to anyone at any time“. And more than often, for that same „I am free“ mentality, I find myself thinking: „I shouldn’t have said that.“ Either my words hurt someone’s feelings or I just talk for the sake of talking. Sometimes, silence can say much more and a person will have that inner peace. (This is one of things I wrote in my 30 Things I’ve Learned Before Turning 30, and I’m enforcing this even harder in 2019.)
3. WEAR A SKIRT/DRESS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK
In my 2018 New Year’s resolution list one of the resolutions was to be more polished on everyday basis. This goal was semi enforced; I was dressier on occasion, but not as much as I’d like to be. This year I’m making commitment to wear skirts more often and get myself out of my sneakers. That is one fashion choice I need to tone down a bit. Yes, sportswear is comfortable and in style, but this cannot be my only choice of footwear when spring comes.
4. BE ON TIME
This one is also known as STOP BEING LATE. While I’m not late as some other people I know (insert laughter here), I am known for running out of the house with non-polished nails just to arrive at a second when I was supposed to. With this resolution I’m thinking of the time before I start to commute to my destination. When I’m at home doing God knows what (playing some songs probably) instead of getting myself ready.
5. REMOVE MYSELF FROM PEOPLE THAT DON’T ENRICH ME WITH THEIR PRESENCE
Should we call this one „organization of social life“? I love my friends. I also love my acquaintances. Neighbors. Whomever. But in 2018 I realized that some people shouldn’t be near me. They annoy me and extract every bit of energy that is left in me. Some people don’t understand me and often times I find myself explaining my decisions to them when they’re just not interested in understanding. I don’t have evil people in my life. Just for the time being, with some people I’m just not at the same page (currently) and that is OK. There’s no need to force something.
6. FIND MORE TIME FOR DAY TRIPS TO GET TO KNOW MY COUNTRY
I’m way too lazy, so most of my weekends i don’t really do anything. I have a coffee, lay around and „resting“ (read: scrolling somewhere on Internet). But a visit to a nearby town or a village could be fun and affordable trip, but could still feel like a world away.
