changing light bulb

It was a small step for man, but a gigantic step for me. There is a certain feeling that appears when you do something that you’ve been postponing for months. It is not feeling of pride, it’s more like one part of your brain tells other part: I’ve told you so. And it feels good.

I’m a strong woman who always claims I can do anything. But in reality, I often find myself depending on others to do the things that may not be ladylike or „I don’t know how to do it“. Now, I’ll never actually call somebody to „help“ with the things I can do myself, but there will be a huge amount of time before I decide to do it (read: change a light bulb on balcony). Procrastinating in its full glory, ladies and gentlemen.

But today was not like any other day. I changed the light bulb. I wasn’t afraid to get electrocuted, I wasn’t afraid of falling down ladder. I didn’t panic about dead bugs falling on me from fixture itself, and I didn’t feel like I need to think about it for a while. I changed the light bulb.

Moral of the story: when you plan to do something, do it immediately. And you’ll get that lovely: I told you so feeling from yourself.

Until next time,
